I remember as a little girl traveling a short distance every fall to a remote, country Pumpkin Farm. It was both beautiful and inspiring to view the house on the hill and the fall foilage that was bursting with exuberant colors in Central New York. I can't help but recall how enchanted I was by the smells in the air and the sounds of rustling leaves beneath my feet as I trod up the long hill towards the farm. I adored the rustic colonial charm of it all. There were primitive tables and antiques of every sort scattered around the homestead. Jack O Lanterns all stacked and lighted for harvest activities that seemed to cackle in the crisp autumn air. I still imagine that I can see the wind whipping and tossing the harvest decorations that were hung by neighborhood children and friends in that rural community. The aroma of fresh hot cider, baked fruit breads and popcorn were carried on the breezes of the cool October wind.
Pumpkin HIll House, as I secretly named it.. was not only a farm, but a wonderful homestead that would leave an indelible impression of " Country Style " on my life. My creations and store offerings spring from vintage memories and books that have been read to small children for generations... I have come to embrace over the years that home decorating is not just an art or even personal taste, but rather, memories and reflections of yesteryears that bring us back to that feeling of comfort and home.
The Story of The Three Bears has always held me in enchantment as I recall Momma Bear, Papa Bear and Baby Bear all surprised after a brief forest walk. Upon returning they are puzzled by a girl with Golden curls... An innocent encounter leads to a frieghtened child .. and a childs curiosity from the Black Forests of Germany makes its way into every heart..
I aspire to make my creations hold a special place in someones heart.. to spring up in those who see them some fond memories that a few or many will hold dear.. A gift to recall a special occassion or an enchanted time and place... Personalized with your touch and from my heart to yours...
