LIVING HISTORY
Judith Brinck

Judy's work is increasingly sought after. She offers her original work in shops, including on beautiful Nantucket Island, Massachusetts, as well as creating new designs for companies.

Her work has been shown at Newport Showhouse Guild showhouses, photographs of which have been carried in Traditional Home Magazine. She has been chosen for The Early American Life Best Craftsmen Directory of the recognized 200 craftsmen in America continuing period crafts.

A great deal of research goes into her fraktur pieces offered through American Folkart. Each fraktur is either based on a work drawn from the past - and is reflected in the description and date- or is an original, based on fraktur/folkart design of the 18th and 19th centuries.

Paintings are rendered on heavy archival paper, which is "aged" to look very much like old handmade laid paper. Using period colors, and calligraphic pen, care is taken to replicate the "old ways" as much as possible. When available, old frames are used. Hand graining and vinegar painting are among the methods applied to give each piece the authentic look of early America.
